What Are My Meal Plan Choices?

In order to meet your campus dining needs, we have designed the following meal plans. Meal Plans are available at the beginning of each semester through the Office of Residence Life.

Meal Plan Options

Selection of a Campus Dining Meal Plan will result in your student ID acting as your meal card.

RESIDENT PLANS: All resident hall students are required to select one of the following meal plans.

  • Block 200: 200 meals, $65 flex per semester.  This plan averages 14 meals per week, plus the additional Flex dollars allotted each semester. This meal plan is perfect for the student who likes the convenience of eating on campus for most meals, and who does not want to bother with groceries or cooking themselves.

  • Block 150: 150 meals, $165 flex per semester.  This plan averages 10 meals per week, plus the additional Flex dollars allotted each semester. This plan suits the student who likes to utilize several meal options a week, but likes a little flexibility to eat on-the-go from Ace's Place or Jazzman's.

  • Block 100: 100 meals, $350 flex per semester. This plan averages 6 to 7 meals per week, plus the additional Flex dollars allotted each semester. This plan is best for the busy student who may not be able to eat at normal meal times, and enjoys catching a bite throughout the day.

COMMUTER & VILLAGE PLANS

  • Block 40: 40 meals, $200 Flex per semester. This plan is designed for Commuters, Village Residents, Greek House Residents, and seniors living in the residence halls. It averages 3 meals per week, plus the allotted Flex.
  • Flex 375: $390 Flex per semester. This plan is specifically for commuter students who like the convenience of dining on campus without cash or credit cards. This plan is only available through Sodexo. and you may contact the office at 488-2951. (Cost is $390)

Points to Remember

Definition of Meals

  • A meal provides a student the ability to select a designated combination consisting of an entree, drink and sides in Cafe Court or Ace’s Place.
  • None of our meal plans include all-you-care to eat dining, but our downloadable guide to what makes a meal can help you navigate your options when dining.
  • Students can use up to five meals per day. (Ace’s Place and Cafe Court has a two meal per period limit to decrease long wait lines and help ease production constraints.)
  • Any unused meals left at the end of each semester are forfeited.

Definition of Flex Dollars

  • Flex dollars may be used to purchase individual items in Jazzman’s Cafe, Ace’s Place and Cafe Court.  They may also be used to purchase a meal.
  • Flex dollars transfer to the spring semester when a student continues with a meal plan on UE’s home campus. Any unused flex dollars left at the end of the second semester will be forfeited. Flex dollars are nonrefundable when a contract is ended or cancelled.
  • If a student utilizes all of his or her flex dollars, additional flex dollars can be purchased online or through the Sodexo office in the Ridgway University Center.

Using Flex for Papa John’s Pizza

  • Campus delivery from the Papa John's on Weinbach Ave. is part of the meal program and students can utilize flex dollars for lunch and dinner seven days a week from 11am to 11pm.
  • Their number is 477-7700.
  • You must show your Student ID and another photo ID to charge your Flex.
  • Please remember to tip your delivery person!

Meal Plans During Breaks

  • Meal Plans are not in operation during Fall Break, Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, Spring Break, or Easter Break.
  • Students staying on campus during Fall, Thanksgiving, Easter and Spring Break should plan ahead and obtain food from Aces Place with their Flex to prepare during this time.
  • During Fall Break, Thanksgiving and Easter Break, students can use their Flex dollars to buy Pizza from the local Papa John’s
